Hi all
I need some advice regarding section #1. I have started practicing section #1 (timed) - not good results. I have an ~50% success rate with questions. I find that reading the entire prose passage is extremely time consuming and I am rushing to answer.
Question is: how should section 1 be tackled - should I spend more time reading and then attempt question, or should I read questions first and then the passage? With 1.5 min per question feeling very stressed.
Any advice would be most appreciated, especially from any GAMSAT veterans out there.
Thanks

Hi Derek
First of all, forget that you have "just 1.5 min" to answer each question in Section 1. If you keep reminding yourself during the test that minutes are running out, you will only make yourself more nervous and lose more time thinking about it. You sure don't want that. Calm yourself before you start with Section 1.
To answer your question, well it is always best to skim read the passage and then move onto the questions. Make the first reading a slightly good one, you should pick up the main points and get a basic idea of what the passage is about. This also helps in knowing where to trace back the answer in the passage.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with the Gammy this year.
