Hey everyone!

I'm Lia Smile I'm a recent Arts (Psych) graduate and until now I didn't realise I had a bit of a chance of getting into medicine because I thought my GPA was too low (I just saw the "5" on the medicine courses, and didn't realise that wasn't the raw GPA!) and also, I always thought you had to be pretty proficient in the sciences to get into medicine. I found it encouraging to hear about other non-science graduates studying medicine.

I'm pretty comfortable with Biology, having studied that until Grade 12 and have also studied some Neuroscience at uni. As for chem and physics...I haven't studied those since Grade 9! I am prepared to hit the books like anything and take a short course/ get tutoring. I live on the Gold Coast- does anyone know any good tutors/courses here or in Brisbane?

Also, here is a question for those GAMSAT experts Smile -my GPA is 5.3. Now, realistically, with a reasonable GAMSAT score- would my GPA be too low to get in (Griffith-2009)? And, do uni's look at both the GPA and GAMSAT scores in combination when assessing candidates for interviews?

I hope I made sense! Thanks! Cool

would you consider other schools?

I would suggest that with a 5.3, your best chances may lie elsewhere.....

I would also start studying for GAMSAT now, because if you can nail that, the 5.3 will become less important.

Hint: look for schools with GPA hurdle requirements.
