Hi all,
I have been thinkin about career change into medicine, i have a Bachelor degree in Science and been working in medical field for couple of months.
I am willing to work in UK until the end of next year and hopefully
start the medicine course in 2008.

I just noticed that next GAMSAT is held in March.
Is it too late to start anything to get prepared? (since I wont be able to sit for the GAMSAT next year)
Apparently, I only have 2months from now on....until the exam.
How long do you people spend to get prepared or any good advice, That will b very appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello

I am also thinking of career change to Medicine.Currently I am working full time as a dentist.
I asked a few people and they said that on average you need at least 3 months.
All the best. I am doing the GAMSAT this year and I only have about 2.5 months to prepare. Well see how I go.

Hey there,
I've only just jumped on this chat site and thought and let you know that i'm in the same situation as you (if not worse). I only decided to look into sitting for the GAMSAT 1 day before the final 'late fee' registration was due. I just finished my grad diploma in psych last year and realised that medicine (something i have always dreamed of studying) is something i really want to try for. So i've decided to sit for the test this march...an almost impossible goal as i have not got a chemistry or physics background!! So, basically i'm trying to cram all that study into 5 weeks! oh well i'm always up for a challenge, but am also always up to listening if you're feeling frustrated with studying (as i prob will be too!)

Hey TrialRun, Just a quick line to sympathise... I am in the same boat as you. For many and varied reasons I was late registering and therefore have limited time to study - have only just received study manuals this week!!! I have managed to swindle a week off work at the beginning of March, but will otherwise be working fulltime up until the exam, therefore "cram" will be my middle name! Hope this makes you feel a bit better - you're not the only one chasing a dream who feels like the odds are stacked against them. Fingers crossed for us both, and good luck! Keep me posted.

Hey bkb1976,
So nice to get your reply. Came at the perfect time too...so ready to give up. Feel like there's no way i can learn all of that chem and physics by the 25th, when i have absolutely no background in them. It's quite funny actually. Oh well, just wanted to wish you lots of luck with your cramming session (i feel your pain). I know how much of a hassle it is to work and study (i'm actually at work at the moment...on sunday....so very sad).
Well if you ever feel like chatting...or just complaining to someone, i'm more then happy to listen.
Talk soon.
P.S. I want to go to the beach!! Cool

Hey TrialRun, Thanks for the reply - ugh, work on a Sunday - poor you!!! I am off to a girlfriend's Hens Lunch and am feeling a little irritated that I have to interupt the study when I'm on a roll.... Have been thrashing away at chem this weekend with the Gamsat Guru manuals - so far so good, (some topics I'm handling easier than others) but am not looking forward to tackling organic chem - arrgh! Anyway, good luck, hang in there and keep studying (if only so that I can feel like there's someone else panicking the way I am!!!!!).
Talk soon.
P.S. Damn you, now I'm having visions of the beach... It would be sooooo nice down there at the moment!!!
