Just wondering if anyone has done an MMI interview last year? What sort of questions do they ask? Do you have to remember the stuff you studied for the GAMSAT - do they presume you know all the science stuff?
Also has anyone done the Deakin interview last year? Any tips? |

Lyrebird, there is a thread on www.pagingdr.proboards61.com that has lots of examples of MMI from universities around Australia. Hope they prove useful, but you wont find Deakin ones as interviewees were bound by a confidentiality clause. |

every uni is different and the questions change each year
if you have prepared an answer and try to fit it to another similar question you might loose marks if it looks like you are not answering the question correctly
make sure that you have an example
for my interview they sent us a doccument on the topics, but there was no way you could prepare because the questions came out of nowhere.
if you have had some life experiences then you will find it easier because you can use these to shape your answers. Nothing exactly, but they can make it way easier. My experience has been surf club and doing volunteer work in health care overseas. It educated me. Oh also if you have been a patient in a hospital.
Maybe go for a walk in a hospital and think about what you would think about as a doctor and they were your patients. That is the kind of stuff they ask.
Write some stuff down and you will think of more. |

In my experience, there were no medically relevant questions. What would be the point of attending medical school if you already knew it all huh?
The kinds of questions they will ask you relate to your social and emotional intelligence.
Oh, and Griffith University used the same questions for years and years, but they've changed now |

true
but i meant in terms of how you would think about these things as a lay person would.
and also some unis want to see that you have some medical knowledge (that you have actually thought about what you will be encountering/or if you just want a big fat pay packet)
interview questions vary depending on the uni and what they are looking for
i got an unbonded place at a good uni, and I answered with medical knowledge (so this was likely to have been good for my interview score). The questions needed medical knowledge if you wanted to answer them well.
other unis just want to see that you are a moral person.
questions would obviously vary from year to year also |

plenty of Universities recycled their scenarios last year.....
I know that I had prepped for one of mine. It was EXACTLY the same.
This happened to friends of mine across almost every graduate medicine school across the country! (it surprised me a little that they didn't have a huge bank of scenarios to draw from....) |

Yeah I luckily had studied a previous scenario, and it turned out that I got it in my interview.
Bonus! |

Same here. You can prep for an interview by getting a good medical ethics book and reading through scenarios. Anyone who tells you they don't prep for their interviews is probably lying. I know at least one other person (apart from myself) that even studied the photos of the faculty members on the university website so that they could recognised them if they happened to be in their panels. He recognised one of his panel members straight away as a result. |

All.
During my interview there was no cross-questioning. Only one person was asking questions at a time while others were just watching, but as Sardonic has mentioned that during her interview there was cross-questioning as well. So what does this mean? |
