I'm also in Brisbane (northside).

Keen to become involved with study group if it gets up and running.
I don't have a particularly strong science backgroup so will need all the help I can get........... I think

What are people's thoughts about how worth while the GAMSAT courses are??? I'm considering Des O'Neils courses but $800 is a hugh amount !

Also looking for someone to study with or swap notes via email. What is everyone doing to get ready to tackle the beast?

Hi, my name is Vanessa. I'm registered for GAMSAT this year and will be doing it next year as well. I'm not doing any courses this year because of cost but I'll be doing one next year. Any recommendations as to which one I should do?

I'm interested in joining a study group in Brisbane too. I go to UQ so if anyone else goes there it could be easy to get some prep happening.

Hi I am also from Brisbane ( Morningside) and will be sitting the test next year. If anyone is interested we could get together maybe once a month and share materials and have a study group?

My email is a_harmon@dodo.com.au

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Hi Aemelia

I am in Balmoral (Brisbane). I'll drop you an e-mail later this year re the possibility of getting together to trade notes. By that time, I will have had time to learn a bit more about science - I am currently feeling a bit challenged by organic chemistry.

From a bit of home research, I have decided to go for both MediRed and Gamsat Guru. You probably are more aware of ATO rules than me but as I work in a science related health field, I intend claiming both items back on tax as part of a home office library. This info may be of use to you?

Kindest regards

Bruce

Hey guys,
I noticed some of you are thinking of starting a revision group- great idea! I'm currently a 2nd year medical student at the University of QLD- having sat GAMSAT in 2004. Just wanted you to know that if you are keen for a GAMSAT tutor I am available for most areas in brisbane. In my oppinion preparation courses are useful- however you will find that 1-on-1 or small group tutoring far more useful.

If your interested let me know. Good Luck with GAMSAT though- hopefully I will see you all next year!

Also, how do we start studying for it now? I want to start preparing myself but i don't know where to start! Do i wait for the ourses next year?

Did anything come of the above discussion on study groups in Bris?

I'm sitting GAMSAT in '07 and live in Ashgrove. I'm not planning on doing any courses, but would be interested in an occasional study group / notes exchange. I bought some video lectures for MCAT science topics that I'm finding very helpful and will probably pick up GAMSAT Guru or another specific GAMSAT package to cover the gaps between MCAT and GAMSAT.

I'm an electrical engineer so I have a good background in physics. I did quite well in chemistry at high school, but haven't done much since. I've had an amatuer interest in biology for a few years, which has influenced my reading choices, but the nitty gritty of biology is fairly new to me.

Where abouts did you pick up the lecture videos, sounds good.
Everyone would probably need to do a fair bit of independent study, and come with preprepared questions and problems they may be having, I think something like that would be fantastic.

I got the videos and other MCAT material from eBay (the guy also has an online store http://www.mcat-bookstore.com/mcat-books.html).
