Hey guys
I am so disappointed with my GAMSAT scores but still wanna check if there is any chacne to get an interview. By the way, I am an international student.
My scores are:
Section 1 = 55
Section 2 = 40
Section 3 = 77
Total Score was 62.
It's my first GAMSAT. I was so nervous, maybe that's why I stuffed up in section II. Is there any chance that I can get an interview? I know the Section II mark is pretty much hopeless...
Thanks you.
Sorry if these questions are silly. |

Sorry to break the news to you but most unis require all three sections to have a minimum of 50 in order to get an interview.
Good luck! |

I suppose u could try Flinders and UWA? They seem to consider applicants with scores below 50 in one of the sections.
=] Good luck! |

Sorry to be harsh, but there is ZERO chance of any uni considering you with a section score of 40.
Head down, bum up, and work on your problem area for 2012 Gamsat Mate.....

Hi - I disagree with most people's thred's here.
Depending on which uni's you are looking at I believe your overall GAMSAT score of 62 could land you an interview. My advice to you would be to look at what schools weight interviews the most, ie 60/40 and then if you think you could smash the interview then I'd hop right on it! I believe if you have a decent GPA and GAMSAT score, plus good application details your chances are increased - the disappointing thing is that whilst every uni does state a minimum 50 in every section, when they break down your overall mark that 40 will be your downfall. I'd say give it a crack if you have the money and the time, if you have time to resit the GAMSAT then I would say go for it - but you just never know what the competition is like each year until after offers have been made! Chin up, on average people sit the GAMSAT 3-4 times.. |

that's a top section 3 mark, what a shame...you could resit again next year and do one of those essay prep courses. |

According to Flinders the section II cutoff is 45ish and that's a long way from 40.
"For most Australasian applicants who are not applying to the NT Medical Program or in a special admissions sub-quota, the overall GAMSAT score required for interview has been in the range 56-62% in recent years. It was 61% for 2011. Applicants also needed to achieve scores of at least 50% in Sections I and III and a minimum score of about 45% in Section II."

I suggest you have a think about where you went wrong and work on it. Was it structure, spelling, etc... If you can boost your section I/II scores to around the 60 mark you would be laughing. 77 in section III is savant material so spend the next 9 months working on your english. |
