Totally died on section I =.=". Some of the answeres were so subtle like (a) happy and (b) cheerful etc... That bit about culture and social reality was paticularly a waste of time.
I answered around 40 questions and guessed the others. The 40 I did answer though I did so quite confidently, although I'm not sure whether the accuracy would make up the loss of quantity...

Did ok for section II but again I guessed around 25 questions for section III. The ones that I did answer though I did so quite confidently; I think i got most of them right.

So I actually finished section 1 and guessed about 7 questions in section 3... But I'm not confident with my answers... They were pretty subtle ... And I messed up section 2 badly Sad my second essay is shady as. At best, it'll feature as a ' how not to write an essay' model. Boo. Was awfully upset. Nearly cried in the lunch break from gloominess. Oh well! Despite the scaled grading, hope everyone else was happier with theirs! (though I wouldn't mind some company in misery )

I did ok but not amazing on sections one and two I hope, I dont have a science background so I was supposed to do well there! I was pretty happy with the essay topics though with the time pressure I think I managed to write pretty crappy essays. Section 1 was better than last year - ugh, yes I've done this before and bummed out on section three last year.

Completely gutted about section three again, I had to guess so many answers, and the ones I didnt guess I'm not that confident on. I feel like I've learned so much in terms of science this time round, and that test just did not reflect that hard work and knowledge at all. I just didn't get it. All seeming like a big waste of time, but nice not to be studying for a change!

It's so hard to speculate...some of the exams I felt worst about at uni were actually really good. I'm reaaaalllyy hoping it's like that again! But I think one of the most frustrating things about Gamsat is that you don't really know how you went until May. I know when I did the ACER booklets, I'd be so sure I had the right answer...but no. Stupid me filled in my own details wrong several times because I was so nervous!

I hated the subtle differences in answers in S1 as well. I answered everything within time, but it was A LOT more reading than I expected, and I know for a fact the convuluted wording would have tricked me a couple of times. Section 2, I panicked half way through and thought I wouldn't finish. But I managed to somehow pull it off. They are not the best essays I've ever done though. Usually in the reading time I will write down all my ideas and order them in paragraphs, but of course there was no writing in the reading time! And not really enough time to think once the time started. I'm hoping my panicked mental state isn't reflected in the essays.

S3 was hard. At the last 10 minutes I still had about 6 questions left and really just guessed. There was a lot of guessing actually. The girl behind me sounded like she was crying! If anything is going to let me down, I think it will be section 3.

It's a relief that it's over, but it's so hard to not let the whole process become soul-destroying! Especially because when I got back to my car at around 5pm, some kind soul had left ads for their 12 week chemisty course in June! I mean, there was no chance I could have maintained any sort of delusion of a great score after seeing that.

man you guys sound pretty solid with less than 10 or no questions to guess at the finish. i really hope that the scaling will do the job, but like they say, you can never underestimate the people who do the gamsat.
i really should have done more timing excercises...

I think did worse in s1 this year compared to last year arggh. SO not enough time i thought. Good to hear others thought that section was hard too (least our scores are scaled).

SII and SIII, i did good i thought. Hopefully they will pull me though :(

Try and chill out guys...

If I were you, I'd be reflecting on my preparation for GAMSAT, and thinking about the lessons you've learnt this year, in case you need to turn around and do it again..... not so much on marks.

When I did GAMSAT (Back in 2008), I remember walking out of the exam with NO idea how I had gone. I remember feeling like I could have done good or bad, and that no amount of worrying was going to change that.

I know, I know.... you're all type A personalities, and its in our nature to worry, to re hash and to over think these kinds of things. This is your first test my friends. This is your first test to learn to reflect on the experience and look for lessons rather than trying to analyse the exam itself.

HOW did your preparation leave you feeling walking into the exam? did you feel well prepared in all areas?

WHAT caught you by surprise, and what can you do to fix it next time around?

Asking yourself questions like these will help you far more than worrying about the mark you get on section one, or whether you finished section 3 too quickly (well, actually, I guess there is room for reflection about why you timed your run so poorly)

I know it seems easy for me to say, coming from the other side.... and to a certain extent it is. Keep in mind that I've been exactly where you are, and Ive watched GAMSAT buddies chew their nails to the nub, and let the post exam period stress them right out. Its not helpful.

If you really can't avoid it, then I suggest getting your materials in order for GAMSAT 2012, which is what I did. I spent hours sorting, and redesigning my notes for the GAMSAT, assuming that worst case would mean starting again. I wanted to be ready..... battle hardened and ready to attack the next one with the lessons I had learned tucked neatly under my arm.

Best of luck to all of you.

Some great advice there Lb.

I'm looking forward to the next gamsat after having bombed out with my first run this year.

Like others above, I found S1 too vague and S3 too long. So I think I'll be lucky if I pass.

Going to start studying again in June.

I feel exactly the same - section 1 and 2 were tougher than I expected and I completely ran out of time for section 3. My plan now is as follows:

Probability is high that I will be studying during the Summer for exam in UK so going to take it relatively easy until end of May.
Re-organize notes.
Buy Examkrackers 1001 qts in Org. Chem and Physics as definitely need to practice questions under time constraints.
Make out a realistic study timetable.

Best of luck everyone, you never know, maybe we're being too hard on ourselves (fingers crossed!)

Thanks Lovebite, you've made some great points. At the moment, I'm trying to keep GAMSAT out of my head until I get my results. It's hard, but I figure there's not much I can do except wait and see. I've sort of thought of a few ways I'd like to do it differently, which gives me hope. I'd be more upset if I felt like I'd ran out of options.

After I get my results, it will be all systems go again, either making applications or (more likely) organising myself for round 2! But right now, I'm trying to enjoy the lull and spend time doing fun, totally unacademic things like revamping old furniture and reading books purely for their entertainment value.

Plenty of people at the Christmas Fair, new faces and old alike.

So, how did we do?
What did you like about the event? and what didnt you like?

Planning now turns to the Summer Fair, so what would you like to see for the 3rd annual Summer Fair?
