Apparently this is a new product out and my friend has been tutoring with the author of the book and heavily recommended it. It's a physical chemistry guide and is much more thorough than my other resources. It's probably worth checking out on the DrGAMSAT website.

Also, does anybody know a good physics resource? I'm struggling....Thanks!

Hmmm, 1 post and it mentions a company that no one ever heard of before? I even searched on Google for "Dr GAMSAT" and it's not even on the first page, nor second, nor hmmm. Checked on eBay and no sales yet.

Well, just to say that if you want to promote something: it's OK but you can go to Introductions to introduce yourself or Marketplace to sell something.

If you really are looking for a physics resource then here is my personal bias: either The Gold Standard GAMSAT book (712 pages) which is available in uni bookstores (over 100 sold on ebay with verifiable feedback) or an online access program which includes 50 hours of science review videos, an online version of the textbook and questions with worked solutions: www.members.gamsat-prep.com/University-online-courses/

Either way, welcome to the forum (if I'm allowed to say that!) and if you have tips to contribute then I'm sure everyone would like that!

PS here is a thread on how not to promote: www.gamsatforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3125

Thanks for the feedback re the physics guide...will look into it. As for the Dr GAMSAT guide, a friend of mine is tutored by the author and recommended I purchase it via their website. I think that's why you see no ebay sales....the feedback and inquiry were genuine.

By the way, I visited your ebay store and it seems that you're the one trying to sell products on this forum. Between the MCAT, UK GAMSAT and the Aussie GAMSAT, you've posted "Gold Standard" ads ALL OVER THE INTERNET.

Does anybody actually have some GENUINE feedback on a good physics resource for the Australian GAMSAT, preferably not an MCAT knockoff. Thanks.

Genuine, verifiable feedback is often rare from companies. Ebay verifies that feedback comes from genuine purchases from different clients and appropriately distributed IP addresses, etc.

For our MCAT and DAT products: over 2000 students have left verifiable feedback, 100% positive as of today: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=md-4-me&&_trksid=p4340.l2560&iid=380146357535&sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

For our GAMSAT products which are shipped from Sydney: over 160 students left feedback, 100% positive as of today: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/2011-GAMSAT-Preparation-book-Sample-pra-ctice-questions-/260627600831?pt=AU_Books_Textbooks&hash=item3cae9d95bf

For clarification: GAMSAT Australia, GAMSAT UK and GAMSAT Ireland, in terms of content/grading and the portability to any GAMSAT requiring institution, are identical exams. To be clear, the person sitting right next to you during the GAMSAT on March 26 may have a slightly different exam (order of questions vs question types) as would be the students sitting the March 26 exam in Ireland. However, the content is statistically the same and that's why a student can sit GAMSAT UK in Melbourne in September and use those scores to apply to any GAMSAT requiring institution in Australia, Ireland or the UK.

The Gold Standard GAMSAT textbook - which includes a complete physical science section in colour (among others) with free online Q&A with worked solutions - is specific to GAMSAT preparation. You don't have to believe me, ads nor the 150 feedbacks, you can go the your local uni bookstore to see if it is true.

The point was I am a candidate sitting the March 2011 GAMSAT exam who wants genuine feedback from OTHER people also sitting the exam. I want an unbiased opinion and do not want to hear from sales representatives, like yourself, from GAMSAT preparation companies.

This is a candidate driven forum and should not be used to drive sales for your company. Interestingly, every single post that you have made advertises and provides links to the Gold Standard website. This appears to be a business bias, not personal as you suggest.

FYI, my friend has your book and recommended that I purchase the MedPrep notes before considering your's.

Just to register my support, if you were looking for an actual student as well as a connoisseur of gamsat material, look no further. obviously its a bit late now as the gamsat is in 4 days but, I feel im in a unique position to comment on this post as I went slightly overboard with purchasing materials.

I bought the full gold standard, full prepgenie, and have a mate who is doing the full des o'neill course so i made use of all his materials as well.

I also ended up getting tutoring from the author of dr gamsat as well as buying his book.

As an arts student who was completely unfamiliar with philosophy, I feel that the gold standard was entirely inappropriate for sole use as a study guide. That being said, it was very useful as a sort of required knowledge indicator. I would look in gold standard to see what i needed to know, then go somewhere else to learn it. It is also very comprehensive, and the full length test at the end was very useful.

Des oneill was fabulous to fine tune my skills, but again the revision course was exactly that: revision, and way to complex to understand before doing more elementary study.

prep genie was total shite, avoid it at all costs. completely not gamsat style, way too knowledge based and riddled with typos. I spent 450 bucks on it and i havent used it. i couldnt even get anyone to buy it off me.

I felt that DrGamsat was unique in that it caters to non-science backgrounds and was not entirely overwhelming. The questions were a little too simple but i felt that they ensured a solidly basic grasp of the material, and the acer booklets and other stimulus then became useable. The language is easy to understand, rather than Gold Standard which is frequently almost unreadable in its complexity.

Also, the author has told me he is in the process of writing books for all the science sections, and I would expect they would be just as good.

please note that this is in no way a biased report or an attempt to sell anything, the author doesnt even know Ive posted. It certainly irritated me that the gold standard plugger had the giant hypocrisy to criticise when they in fact were plugging their own work.

My critique had nothing to do with the idea that someone openly discusses their support for their own product. My critique was specifically because I was under the impression that a first time poster who mentions a product which is very hard to find using Google but does not mention Des or Guru or Gold Standard. The person responded a few times and I did not want to continue the debate since I feel that these discussions are not helpful for other members.

But saying "hypocrisy" seems only relevant if I was pretending to be an objective observer but my comments suggested otherwise. My signature underlines the fact that I do not pretend to be an objective observer and never had.

I'm hoping that these issues can be set aside and instead a productive chat can be left behind.

I think it might be helpful to know about how many questions/worked solutions (?) were in the drgamsat manual you used?

Also, I wonder if you used the online videos or did the questions/worked solutions that come with the gold standard book?

I made use of all the extra material, but to be honest, as someone who cannot study at home, i found it really irritating to have to have internet access in order to study. Because it is a post graduate course Im not a member of a uni anymore so I couldnt just go and get wireless access where i was.

As i said, the questions in DrGAMSAT were not as extensive as either des or Gold Standard but as a science first timer i felt that most of the practice questions were too hard to start off with for GS, they werent easy enough to access and if i did want an extensive and difficult question set i would recommend going to des as they give you all the material you need on paper. As for the videos, there are more than enough tutorial video websites you can get for free, like khan academy.

In the end, i can only be honest about my feedback and my own situation and it may not suit others' preferences, but for me DrGamsat was great for my level, cheap enough that it justified the brevity of the questions and in the end, much for helpful than gold standard.

I guess there really is no logic in art and philosophy.

Feel free to elaborate on what was illogical. It's often easier to snipe than it is to make an actual argument, as I have attempted to do. I'm not biased. The author is not my friend, nor do I owe him anything. Nor do I particularly care if you buy his book. I just think it is good. If you have a useful point to make, please make it. Otherwise, kindly take your "clever" remarks elsewhere.

As far as I know the author is still finishing off the drafts of the organic chem and the physics. The only one out as of now is the physical chem text.

It should be ready soon though

Ive got Dr GAMSAT's book on physical chemistry and am also currently being tutored by the author. I'm from a non science backround and have to say the book is really easy to understand, and what I liked most about it was that it didn't focus too much on irrelevant info. I recently bought medprep delux and going through some of the online lectures but thus far i much prefer Dr GAMSAT's book.

It's a shame that there are people here shamelessy advertising their products. I read the post earlier and felt inclined to give my 2 cents on my experience with Dr GAMSAT's book. And as an aside he is a really good tutor.
