Hi Everyone, I just sat the GAMSAT and got a 77. I'm from Canada though so I'm pretty clueless about the schools in Australia. Is there any sort of ranking at all or any schools people would recommend?

I know this is a silly question, but are you coming in as an international student?

As far as I am aware it seems to be Melbourne and then Flinders as they are the hardest to get into, but really it doesn't matter since they all offer the same in the end. IF your GPA is as good as your gamsat score then you should choose one that will include both in the final mark since you might bomb out at the interview and still not get a place. No-one seems to talk about which school is best since people have had really high scores like you and still not managed to secure a place because they received a low interview score.

Good advice lieshaha (you're up late!).
Honestly though, we don't really have that 'good school/bad school' thing here like North America (US in particular - not sure about Canada).

All the schools are pretty similar, it's the same qualification at the end, and most hospital jobs couldn't give a toss about where you got an Australian medical degree in.

So...go where you are happiest (maybe with your Mum in WA?).
Also think of the city you'd like to be in, or country area.

Melbourne does apparently come up on some ranking as one of the best schools in the world (a few other Australian ones do too) but I read this was also based on a medical research component. This has downsides too - when I was at Melbourne, teaching seemed to be just an 'add-on' for some of the lecturers, and there was always the 'we've made it' aspect about the place which wasn't that great. Beautiful surrounds and area though. I went to Monash next - out in the sticks, but had a great vibe and I found it very friendly and social. Lecturers didn't get shitty if you knocked on their door and asked a question either! Less tickets on itself as we say here - as far as end education goes, (I did different courses) - indistinguishable standards/results.
