Hi all,

Really glad that some of you agree that it was a nightmare. Because hopefully it means that it will be standardised and we all may do better than we think.

There were some people at my test centre crying afterwards (thankfully not me - i was in shock!)I heard some people saying that they left 40 questions blank and just had to put 'A' in for all of them cause they ran out of time.

I must say that I just skipped so many questions as they were way too wordy and guessed as i went along rather than wasting time on the ridiculously hard questions.

Still think i will have to sit again next year - that sucks!

Smile

I'm not too concerned as this is my practice run only.

But if this is going to be my "real" test, I'd be exploding in all directions. I'm surprised at how difficult the third sections is - and I'm a science major!

And the biggest lesson of the test: I should not have lunch. It put me in sleep.

Hi everyone

Like everyone, I think the exam sucked.

I was really annoyed that I didn't get to finish section I. I went into an abyss and my time vanished. I had to guess about a dozen or so and even had to leave a few blank. I completely hated it. Anyway - what was the go with that stupid flowchart??

Section II I finished although not sure about how I'd go. I've never been any good at essay writing The people around me seemed to be writing non-stop. Section III was long and left me brain dead afterwards. Luckily I studied organic chem so was happy with that, not sure about the rest of the biology etc.. I just ran out of time.

It was a long day and really deflating. Yesterday was weird. I didn't really know what to do with all my free time! I was knackered and just chilled watching a dvd.

Good luck. Hopefully we all did better than we think....

The flow chart in section 1 WAS weird in the truest sense of the word, totally evil. It was designed I am sure to waste your time and had a disqualifying error in the beginning
(100 Calories = 100000 Kilo calories - I don't think so!) I spotted that in the reading time and pointed it out to the supervisor who said she would notify ACER... From that point on I decided I would leave it til last and I answered the questions without using the chart and just with what seemed reasonable. I know they put in some questions as test ones and they don't use them but what they do is soak up your time - especially since you had to work out numbers and could not use a calculator - that was another giveaway for a dummy question, I thought. I REALLY hated the science and forgot what I did know. My friend who studied with me and did it last year said she thought that she did worse this year than last year! How depressing!

YES!

I have came to accept that GAMSAT occasionally drop the Earth logic and enters GAMSAT logic, but that was a little too much.

See, this would have caused a problem IF it had anything to do with any of thequestions.

But since the questions were mainly about comparisons, then it didnt matter. 40% drop in seal numbers FTW!!

Monash (melbourne) had good facilities, however being a weekend everything was closed except for the crappy 'Meeting Point' which everyone knows gives you food poisioning 100% of the time

I didn't even notice the KCal thing, although remember there are Calories and calories ie. the measure is not consistently used.

Anyway it had nothing to do with the questions, just one of those side-facts that waste time while you're answering the question.

I found with most of the questions, your first glance at them was terrifying, but as you worked through, you could eventually work them out. That's the problem though isn't it - you could probably work them all out if you had time which you don't.

i liked section 1 and 2.

especially the fact that there was a lot of economics, rather than arty farty crap with arty/ literature weird words

in section 3 i liked the eskimo question, although for some strange reason everyone else appears to have hated it

i found the organic chem was much harder than on the practice papers. it was a bit of a surprise, i did really well in the PRACTICE papers

i finished all sections

i have a banking finace degree as well as a chem engineering degree (not organic chem)

Yes,

I think I made a tactical error in sect 3 - I would read a question and got bogged down on a few that I didnt really know straight away but felt I was *tantalisingly* close to working out....if I just spend another 2-3 minutes on this, I'll get it....add that up and I ran out of time to foucs on questions that were just interpretting tables and graphs - ie I could definately have gotten.... who knows....?

Stangely, I answered a big block of questions I was really happy with, but the answers were all 'A' - ie about 10 As in a row!! I thought, 'that can't be right' and went back and re-read the questions, including all the othe rpossible answers, trying to make anything fit except 'A' (ie wasting plenty more precious time in the process), but kept coming up with A being correct. So in the end I left them as A.

Shocked Did anyone else get a big block of As in Sect 3, or am I coming back next year>?

Know exactly what you mean AyJay.

I recall a run of A's in there somewhere - but went and checked and did change a few - saw new stuff. Who knows anyway?

I ended up with 15 minutes left for last 10 ie. on time, got bogged down for 5 or 6 minutes on one unit I couldn't really get anyway, then couldn't get through the last 10 without a scan and guess. Very frustrating.

Hm...Don't shoot me down, but GAMSAT wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Maybe that's because I used Ozimed or something instead of the worthless MedPrep notes. Ozimed was sooo much harder, so I think it prepared me a little better.
I think I actually laughed about the calories sidenote, but I think it actually woke me up to the fact that most of the questions contained superfluous material, and so from that point on I just ignored the large chunks of text.
